Let Them Be Little...

´They don’t need to crawl... get them to walk as soon as possible!´ ´Make sure they’re signed up for ballet, soccer, gymnastics, violin & piano by the time they’re 2.´ ´Playgrounds... no, we don’t have time for that.. we’re on a very active schedule of classes!´⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We understand everyone has many choices in raising their children. And yes it’s true children are natural sponges between newborn to five. We want to give them the best of everything! However one of the most valued and important gifts we can give our children is the gift of time to play and develop their imagination. *

In “Balanced and Barefoot: How Unrestricted Outdoor Play Makes for Strong, Confident and Capable Children”, Angela J. Hanscom writes "kids of all ages should get at least three hours of free play outdoors a day." Current statistics say that the average child only gets 4-7 minutes of outdoor free play every day. This means that the average child is probably outside for 30 minutes or so a few times a week.

Scientists have discovered that its during this time period that children need to explore and strengthen the neural connections in the left side of their brains the most- because it’s a child’s imagination that will spark and fuel his critical thinking skills - skills he needs to direct and envision his goals, make decisions and communicate well with others.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When we allow time for unstructured play- outdoors as well as socially engaging activities with other children- such as is found in a Kindermusik class- we open limitless possibilities for children’s brains and bodies to flex, grow and become healthy and happy little humans. 🥰👣🦋
